The frugal taste of vegetarian dishes is not bland. Although there are several vegans and vegetarian restaurants in Hanoi, vegetarian culture is almost non-existent in Hanoi street art.
You may think that a city of cuisine and every street food abounds, but searching for a good, reasonable vegetarian restaurant in hanoi, especially in Hanoi’s Old Quarter isn’t easy.
I always try to support places that are affordable by local standards. This is something that is extremely important to me. After nearly a month of staying in Hanoi, I have explored and found my favourite Hanoi vegetarian restaurants.
Modern Vietnamese cuisine and Vegan Menu
I’ve tried many vegetarian restaurants near me, in Hanoi Old Quarter, including vegan buffet restaurants and more. Nevertheless, it seems a bad idea when going with friends who are not vegans.
Of course, you should look for a restaurant with a varied menu which includes vegetarian dishes. Last week, I had a meal at Opera Garden and felt quite satisfied when choosing the vegetarian menu here. Opera Garden is one of the best well-known restaurants for modern Vietnamese and French cuisine. Located on Trang Tien street, near the Opera House, the place gives customers such a quiet and calm sense.
The first impression when coming to this restaurant is spacious, airy and elegant. Therefore, this location may be suitable for important occasions. On the menu, the vegetarian dishes here are relatively diverse and beautifully decorated.
Opera Garden Restaurant has meticulous modern Vietnamese and vegetarian dishes such as stir-fried noodles “Phở”, grilled eggplant or several types of soup. I have to say that having a vegetarian meal at Opera Garden Restaurant is an art which reflects the traditional and modern lifestyle.
I have a chance to talk with the manager of this restaurant, he told me that the ingredients commonly used by chefs here include popular but still prominent and mildly flavored vegetables such as eggplant, cauliflower, banana flower, tofu, zucchini, mushrooms (shiitake, jasmine, carpentry).
The restaurant situated in the French Quarter, right at the beginning of Trang Tien Street which will be the ideal stop for diners on the way to discover the tradition of Hanoi.
From Opera Garden, it takes only 2 minutes for visitors to reach the Opera House to enjoy traditional interlaced contemporary performances. Besides, tourists can also explore the exquisite Indochine architecture of the theater.
Opera Garden restaurant attracts both locals and foreigners to come and enjoy the culinary arts. Another great thing is that, besides the vegetarian dishes listed above, this place is also famous for Vietnamese non-vegetarian dishes, offering customers a wide variety of food options.
All in all, amid the busy and chaotic lifestyle of Hanoi, Opera Garden is always a sanctuary of loneliness and tranquility.
